Wavetrac helical limited-slip differential for the . The wave profile keeps drive going to the gripping wheel when a wheel unloads. Limited lifetime warranty.
A Wavetrac helical limited-slip differential for the Infiniti G35 / G37, Nissan 350Z / 370Z. It drops into your existing gearbox housing and uses your ring gear and carrier bearings.
A torque-biasing differential divides drive between the two axles and can send the gripping wheel a multiple of what the other side is able to hold. That multiple is the bias ratio.
The limit is in the arithmetic. Unload a wheel over a curb, a crest or mid-corner and the torque that side can hold falls to about zero, so there is nothing left to multiply. However high the bias ratio, the drive you get is zero. The same thing happens with both wheels on the ground every time you come off the throttle and onto the brakes, as axle torque passes through zero.
That is the moment a conventional gear differential gives up, and it is the moment the Wavetrac is built for.
Wave profiles are machined onto one side gear and its mating preload hub. At or near zero axle load the two side gears begin to turn at different speeds, which is precisely the condition that defeats a conventional gear differential.
As they rotate, each wave surface climbs the other and forces the two apart. That axial separation generates load inside the differential, created by the very condition that would otherwise have cost you drive, and torque goes back to the wheel that still has grip.
Preload springs are the other way to attack this and they are a blunt instrument: enough spring preload to stop the loss of drive brings handling and wear problems with it, all of the time. The wave profile only acts when the condition occurs.
Tooth forms optimised for strength and for improved oil-film retention, so the gear set keeps a film where the load is highest.
The body is machined from case-hardened 8620 steel forgings or from billet.
Every Wavetrac is assembled exclusively with ARP fasteners.

Use the gear oil your car manufacturer specifies. The Wavetrac is compatible with virtually all factory-fill gear oils.
Avoid limited-slip friction modifiers. They exist to stop clutch chatter in clutch-type units. A gear differential needs friction to generate bias, and a modifier makes the internals too slick to do it, which costs you performance. For the same reason, do not use RedLine Shockproof or similar.
This is the differential unit. It fits your existing gearbox housing and uses your ring gear and carrier bearings. Some applications need specific output flanges, or require the OEM ring gear to be separated and machined. Ask us before ordering if you are not sure which applies to your gearbox.
Shipping is calculated at checkout from your address and the actual weight of the unit, so you see the real carrier price rather than a guess folded into the product.
Send us your VIN and how you use the car, and we will confirm the right part before you order.
