The JRZ PROactive Coilovers for the BMW M3 E46 bring semi-active electronic damping to the E46 chassis — continuously variable damping that adapts in real time to road conditions and driving inputs. Developed by JRZ Suspension Engineering in the Netherlands, the PROactive system replaces traditional manual adjusters with an electronic control unit that delivers the equivalent of infinite damping settings, automatically. WHY THE PROactive EXISTS

Traditional dampers force a compromise — soft enough for the street means too soft for the track, and vice versa. The PROactive eliminates this trade-off entirely. Its electronic control unit reads suspension movement in real time and adjusts damping force continuously, delivering comfort on rough roads and aggressive body control on track — without touching a single knob.

Not sure which series?
The PROactive uses electronically controlled damping to deliver a wider adjustment range than any mechanical damper. For hands-on mechanical tuning, the RS PRO3 (triple-adjustable) or 12 Series (motorsport triple-adjustable) are excellent alternatives.

HAND BUILT IN THE NETHERLANDS

Every JRZ PROactive set is assembled by hand at JRZ’s facility in the Netherlands. Each damper is individually dyno-tested, calibrated, and serialised before shipping. The electronic control system is programmed specifically for the E46 M3’s dynamics and validated against real-world driving data.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How does semi-active damping work?
The PROactive system uses sensors and an electronic control unit to monitor suspension movement in real time. It adjusts the damping force at each corner continuously — hundreds of times per second — to optimise grip, comfort, and body control for the current conditions. Think of it as having an engineer constantly fine-tuning your dampers while you drive.
Do I need the factory EDC system?
No. The JRZ PROactive is a completely standalone system with its own control unit, sensors, and wiring harness. It replaces whatever damping system your E46 currently has — whether factory passive, EDC-equipped, or aftermarket. No factory electronics are required.
Can I still adjust settings manually?
The control unit offers selectable driving modes (comfort, sport, track) that change the system’s behaviour profile. Within each mode, the damping adapts automatically. You choose the character of the system; it handles the moment-to-moment adjustments.
Is installation more complex than passive coilovers?
The damper hardware bolts on like any JRZ coilover. The additional step is mounting the control unit and routing the wiring harness. A qualified shop familiar with electronics should allow an extra 1–2 hours beyond a standard coilover install. We provide full installation documentation.
What happens if the electronics fail?
The PROactive system is designed with a safe fallback mode. If the control unit loses power or encounters a fault, the dampers default to a safe, driveable setting. You can always get home. Meisterschaft Motorsport handles all electronic diagnostics and recalibration in-house.
